Open spread (page 064) of the commemorative volume

纪念画册内页(第064页):鞍钢一炼钢庆祝大会留影,「向大庆工人阶级学习、致敬」横幅
photo c. 1970s

Description

Open spread, page 064, of the commemorative volume. The photograph shows a mass celebration rally during the subject's years at Angang No. 1 Steelmaking Plant (鞍钢一炼钢), the stage draped with banners reading 向大庆工人阶级学习 / 向大庆工人阶级致敬 ('Learn from / salute the Daqing working class') — steel saluting oil, the very pairing this archive studies.

Significance to the comparison

A steel-city rally saluting the Daqing oilfield workers: the industrial-labor exchange between steel and oil, captured inside one worker's own album — a direct hinge between the archive's Anshan and Houston/petroleum threads.
